Nature lovers won’t want to miss RSPB Newport Wetlands (11 miles) with its birdwatching hides, scenic nature trails, visitor centre, and children’s play area. History buffs can step back in time at Caerleon (11 miles), which boasts the remains of a Roman fortress, amphitheatre and bathhouse, along with the National Roman Legion Museum.
Before stepping into this welcoming conversion, take a moment to soak in its stone façade and verdant surroundings that set the scene for a comfortable stay. Step through the stable-style door and be greeted by a well-appointed, country-style kitchen with wooden accents and everything needed for cooking up Welsh feasts.
