Visit Whinlatter Forest and follow the Gruffalo trail – it’s also a great place for mountain biking. The local area is a haven for mountaineering, rock climbing, horse riding, paragliding, and there’s a wide selection of water sports on offer including windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. The Lakes Wildlife Park is only 10 miles away offering a fun day out for all the family. Even on a wet day, there’s plenty to do; visit the Aquarium at Maryport, try the indoor climbing walls at Keswick or book a spa day and chill.
