Space My 2-bedroom maisonette is spacious and relaxing, the ideal place to come back to after a day of exploring, London style! With large windows, wooden touches, a huge and lively terrace and essential amenities such as a wonderful coffee machine and a microwave, the apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay in the bustling London. The living area is its light and airy with a modern design and very discrete finishing touches that make it a calm and welcoming space. Neighbourhood My apartment is located between the fancy neighbourhoods of Clapham and Kennington. Enjoy all the activities my neighbourhood offers for a perfect stay in London. Kennington is one of inner London's best-kept secrets. It’s an enclave of brick houses and pretty squares containing some perfect examples of Georgian architecture. The most famous area is the idyllic Cleaver Square, where locals play boules (a French bowling game) in the summer with merriment. Kennington and nearby Elephant and Castle have also become destinations for foodies in London with a hugely diverse selection of restaurants and markets. The excellent Imperial War Museum and Cinema Museum are both nearby making this a good spot for culture vultures to learn about the history of conflict and motion pictures respectively. Kennington has a significant sporting history and is home to The Kia Oval, one of the homes of the England Cricket team and Surrey County Cricket Club. Up the road, Elephant and Castle has long had a reputation as a slightly downtrodden area, but after a £3 billion investment and regeneration project over 10 years, Elephant and Castle is rapidly becoming one of the most newly desirable areas in London. One example of the change in culture here is the success of the Artworks, a multi-function complex with yoga studios, vintage clothes stores and cafes; all signs of a prosperous and flourishing neighbourhood. For proper English pubs, you're in the right place. Swing by The Old Red Lion or the White Bear for classic pub grub and beers. As far as restaurants go, we recommend heading to the Frenchie Bistro which serves, delicious Gallic food. Alternatively, local foodies in the know head to the Italian-inspired Mercato Metropolitano, an indoor street market that is packed with everything from pizzas to gelato. As far as nightlife goes, Elephant and Castle is home to one of the most famous nightclubs in the world, the legendary Ministry of Sound where superstar DJs and well-known producers frequent the turntables. Next to the apartment, less than 15 minutes walk, you have the possibility of enjoying an amazing time with friends and family as you have two beautiful parks: Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens and Kennington Park. Have a wonderful walk and enjoy the nature. As you are at 15 minutes from the River Thames, you can enjoy a perfect evening walking or having a delicious dinner at the Riverside walk. If you like beer and sports I recommend you to take a drink at the Pub The Hanover Arms, five minutes from the apartment at Kennington Road. It is always full of people having a good time and you will make friends for sure. In less than 5 minutes walking you will find the Oval Farmers’ walking. Here you will find a wide range of fresh seasonal produce on sale including fruit and vegetables from Kent, organic bread, pressed fruit juices, local rare breed pork and sausages, handmade pies, traditionally made cheese, cakes and biscuits, salt marsh reared beef and lamb, freshly marinated olives, fish and much more. You can not miss it! The neighbourhood is completely safe with great connections to the rest of the city. Plenty of stores and groceries so you have at hand everything you need during your stay! Notes Please note that the house is not baby-proof but infants are indeed welcome to stay. Parents will be responsible for their own children. Transit You will be located between trendy Clapham and glamorous Kennington, with Oval as the nearest station to the apartment, just 5 minutes walk away. This connects you to the Northern line, meaning you can get to iconic London sites in no time at all such as The London Bridge in 10 minutes! There are also plenty of buses that will take you all over and you will be able to enjoy the city in a much more relaxed way. Take the time to visit the beautiful Kennington Park in which you will find plenty of activities to do with friends and family. Near the apartment, you will find a small supermarket/shop and in just ten minutes walking you have a huge Tesco on Kennington Road. To get to Gatwick airport you can get the Northern and changing to the blue line until Victoria Station to get the Gatwick Express. In an hour you will be at the airport! If you don’t like to use public transport, you can use Uber, Addison Lee or Gett to move around the city. Exploring London could hardly be easier!
