On the other side of the tidal Nevern estuary lie the broad expanse of Newport Sands and an 18-hole golf links behind. Newport Bay is the ideal setting for family holidays with many outdoor activity options including rock-pooling, fishing, surfing, body-boarding, dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, wing-surfing, kayaking, canoeing or simply admiring the spectacular views.
There is easy access for good walks along the North Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, beside the River Nevern which is excellent for bird watching, or up Carn Ingli: the "Hill of Angels” which can be seen from the east side of Cluaran.
Inland of Newport and to the south, the Gwaun Valley and the Preseli Hills offer extensive walks, horse riding and mountain biking. There are also art galleries, an Iron Age fort and several Celtic standing stones in the vicinity.
