Positive: It was spotlessly clean, warm, and the sofas and beds were comfortable. It wasn't expensive. It was close to the NEC and airport (UBER costs ranged between £5 and £10). A tip - if going to the NEC or airport, it's easier and cheaper to get dropped off at the railway station drop off point. You just go up the escalator then it's a short walk through a covered walkway to the NEC, or a short monorail ride to the airport.

Negative: It's far from luxurious. There's exposed pipework that should be boxed in (look in the corner of the living room photograph for just one example), hanging wires and scuffed paintwork, and patches on walls where something has been moved and the area hasn't been painted. When coming downstairs - to visit the bathroom in the middle of the night - there's no internal door so you can be seen from outside through the glass porch. It was frustrating because it would take so little effort and money to really make this much nicer. Box in the pipes. A door or even curtain at the front door would give privacy. Some free takeaway leaflets would give visitors ideas for food delivery. Some salt and pepper sachets. Wine glasses, nicer crockery and cutlery would elevate it. We didn't have a dish cloth but maybe that was just an oversight. We would have happily paid extra for a welcome pack with a bottle of milk, some nice bread, breakfast cereals etc to get us set up. It's also under the flight path for the airport, but that's not something the owner can do much about.
