Positive: Loved the location by the old mill, which is operated on Sundays, and castle ruins along the coast. Proximity to wildlife: a resident otter, hen harriers, falcons, and diving gannets among much else. An easy stroll along an excellent path to John O'Groats itself with its cafes and brilliant brewery pub. Staff were unbelievably friendly. An old building with loads of character. You look onto the sea through an old mill wheel from the living room. And we saw the Northern Lights!

Negative: Not a dislike, but you kind of need a car to make the most of this area, and we walked a lot as we love nature and history.
