Positive: The caravan looked almost brand new - spotlessly clean, modern, and well equipped with everything we needed. Communication with the management was easy and efficient, and they kindly arranged an out-of-hours key collection as we arrived late, which made everything completely hassle-free. However, the main reason for giving this place 10 points out of 10, is the location, that is excellent from every angle. The caravan sits in a relatively small holiday park, which is a huge advantage compared with the much larger parks on the South coast. Nestled in a peaceful, beautiful valley and almost on an excellent beach, it's also just a couple of miles from the A1, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. Within an hour you can reach by car Alnwick Castle for the Harry Potter fans, or head to Seahouses for the Farne Islands boat trip to see the puffins. We also discovered that it's an excellent base for a day trip to Edinburgh. Drive just 35 minutes to Newcraighall Park & Ride, hop on an 11-minute train, and you're in the city centre without the joy of wrestling with Edinburgh traffic or paying London level parking charges.
Negative: As for the negatives... not much, really. Holiday parks will always be holiday parks, which is precisely why we don't usually choose them. There will inevitably be someone who likes parting until 6 am, or children enthusiastically embracing the day before most people have finished dreaming. Thankfully, this park is small, peaceful, and located away from the busiest tourist hotspots, so those inevitable holiday park "features" were kept to a minimum (or, we were just lucky). We would be happy to stay here again.
