Positive: The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac and would have been really peaceful but there is a field of alpacas next door and people with loud children came to visit them often. We enjoyed playing badminton in the garden and eating outside on the patio. The kitchen is well-equipped.

Negative: It’s by no means terrible but for the money we were disappointed. The garden and outside area was a mess. Grass needed cutting, hedges trimming and the area where the washing facilities etc are was filthy and not to the standard of a house rented to guests. No washing detergent, no shampoo or conditioner, a broken curtain rail in one of the bedrooms and the bathroom had a really impractical wet-room shower that covered the whole floor in water. Limited space to put anything, especially in one of the bedrooms that only had a small hanging rail and two bedside-table drawers. Tricky when you are on holiday for a week with two children!

Summary: We have stayed in Shaldon many many times but wouldn’t come back to this house
