Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The location is brilliant for train travellers - just 5 mins walk from the station. Our room was large and tastefully decorated, with a really comfortable bed and excellent shower. The restaurant is fantastic, with a range of cuts available for steaks and a delicious assortment of sides. We couldn't fault the food or the service, especially the great conversation and local recommendations from the very witty Nicola. The breakfast was equally impressive. I couldn't manage steak again but my husband wolfed his. All in all, fantastic value for money.

Negative: The restaurant was very quiet so by the time we were onto our mains we were the only table in there, which was a shame as I'd brought my husband for his birthday and would've preferred more of an atmosphere. Nobody's fault, just the luck of the draw during an otherwise busy Christmas period.

Summary: Excellent value for money: a stylish room, fantastic food and super-friendly staff.
