Positive: The Tollhouse is sweet, characterful, and well fitted out, with good quality crockery, cutlery and utensils. The heating system is clearly new and upmarket - but the remote operation of it problematic. The property is in a good location for exploring beautiful Carmarthenshire (and Ceredigion) and it is easy to park outside. Neighbour David helpful (e.g. with key box location and offer of heaters).

Negative: Unfortunately, the remote heating system and the damp in this old building meant that when we arrived around 7pm, after leaving home just after 8 am, in pouring rain, the building was 14C, and damp. This felt unwelcoming. A call to the owner, Justine, helped us to locate a trip switch, otherwise there would have been no heating or hot water. This property needs a local check before guests arrive e.g. has the mould from the damp been cleaned, does it feel warm, are the bedding/towels dry. The provision of a welcome pack to include milk for tea (as commonly found in similar properties) would help a friendlier feel too.

Summary: Characterful, but has issues with damp and heating system.
