For shops, pubs and restaurants, head into the picturesque village of Allendale, just 3 miles away, or the historic market town of Hexham, 9.5 miles, where you’ll find the fascinating Hexham Abbey and Old Gaol. The town is also home to an arts centre, racecourse, Art Deco cinema, weekly market and a fabulous foodie scene. Roman sites nearby include Vindolanda Roman Fort and Museum, Corbridge Roman Town and Museum, Housesteads Roman Fort, and Carrawburg Fort and the Temple of Mithras, all within 14 miles.
