Positive: When booking a hotel, you will face the classic dilemma: comfort or location? The more you pay, the better the balance between the two. A certain amount, will get you either more comfort farther from the city centre or less comfort in a prime location. This hotel is a textbook example of budget accommodation in the heart of a busy tourist city. The location is absolutely excellent: nestled between Anne Frank House and the Dam square. For the price, the value you get in terms of location is hard to beat. However, the amenities are cheap.

Negative: The bed was too short, the walls were too thin, the glasses were stained, the mini fridge was rusted, the window was covered in smudges, to get in you have to carry your luggage over a seemingly endless flight of stairs, and contrary to what I’d read in other reviews, the staff were not particularly friendly during my stay. That said, for a short stay of one or two nights, and especially if you prioritise location over comfort, it can still be a worthwhile option. I would not recommend staying more than two or three nights.

Summary: Think of it as a hostel for people who can afford a little bit more
